About us

Money Carer is a national social enterprise that has provided trusted money management service for vulnerable people for over 15 years. We are the largest provider of DWP appointeeships in the UK and are known for our problem-solving ability using innovations such as our biometric fingerprint scanning payment card.

We work with over 150 local authorities, 250 care providers and hundreds of law firms who use our systems and solutions to support the vulnerable folk under their care.

Solving the historical problem

When people live in a supported living setting it has always been difficult for care providers to deal with shared household costs such as energy bills or collecting money for household shopping. The Shared Household Bills Service from Money Carer resolves this problem for all parties involved.

Step One

Typically, a meeting with the care provider will be arranged to discuss the service and how it will make the process of managing shared bills much easier. The care provider will have received a demonstration and supporting literature from the Money Carer team and will be able to discuss and share this. If everyone agrees that the service is a good idea then things can be set up and moved forward as per step two.

Step Two

When everyone has agreed, Money Carer will open a bank account for each person in the shared house on our platform with our partner Zempler Bank. The person or organisation that manages the finances of each individual will deposit an agreed monthly amount into the account towards shared household bills. Money Carer can set up a direct debit to fund the account also if this is easier.

Step Three

Each appointee, deputy or family member will create a Money Carer account on our secure portal so that they can view the balances and payments associated with the bank account opened in the name of their client or loved one. Household bills or other household invoices can be viewed and downloaded from the portal also along with bank statements. This information is useful for record keeping and for reporting to regulators such as the OPG and DWP for example.
